Job Training and Paid Internships
Quote Unquote, Inc. has formed partnerships with various organizations in order to receive a number of paid interns. With the limited budget that Quote, Unquote has, these partnerships have greatly helped Quote Unquote, Inc. with daily operations at the station. Through these partnerships, Quote Unquote, Inc is able to provide participants with the opportunity to develop job skills. Participants have the opportunity to develop basic adminstrative job skills such as typing, data entry using MS Word and MS Access, phone reception. Other job skills participants have had the opportunity to develop are video/film production and post-production skills (Imovie, Final Cut Pro, Motion, LiveType, Pro Tools), skills applicable to operations of a TV station (Master Control and Progamming), as well as web and graphic design skills (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design).

Americorps/VISTA
Digital Arts Service Corp
The Digital Arts Service Corps supports a diverse network of partner organizations that benefit communities nationwide. While any organization using media and technology is a potential partner, we seek out low-power radio stations, media arts and technology centers, rural broadband initiatives, media reform policy advocates and anyone building a strong and diverse public media infrastructure.
Erica Jones, current Outreach and Development Coordinator for Quote Unquote, Inc. is paid fulltime, with benefits through the Americorps VISTA / DAS Corp. Erica states that "This has been a truly valuable experience, professionally, personally and socially. I've been able to meet and work with various community organizations, learn more about the area I live in, and have fun! I've advanced my production skills though shooting and editing The Albuquerque Film Festival, The South West Gay and Lesbian Film Festival; collaborating with the Albuquerque Thunderbirds, the 610 Sports Animal Radio Station, the South Valley Economic Development Center, and more."
Public Allies, Albuquerque
In 1992, two young women, Vanessa Kirsch and Katrina Browne, mobilized a diverse network of young leaders and experienced mentors to create Public Allies in Washington, D.C. Confronting myths of young people as uncaring, apathetic, or worse, Public Allies began with the belief that the untapped energy and idealism of young people can be a powerful force to transform communities.
The founders created a program that links diverse young Americans who want to make a difference with nonprofit organizations in their communities who need them. In the process, we show young leaders how to turn their passion for making a difference into a viable career path. This unique approach has led Public Allies to grow nationally and in 15 communities while developing a respected, replicable model.
Albuquerque New Mexico has a community of Public Allies participants. David Sanchez is currently shared with Quote Unquote, Inc. and The City Of Albuquerque Cultural Services Department. His mission statement is to create 15-30 productions before leaving. David is also required develop leadership skills during his time in this program, and currently serves as a part-time intern and volunteer coordinator for Quote Unquote, Inc. Chris Roybal and Sam Hodder work with Albuquerque Community Foundation and the Local 480. Both Chris and Sam were trained at QUQ and have access to facilities and equipment for their productions as well. visit video.quote-unquote.org to preview Chris Roybal's piece in which he covered, Yastros, the United States' premiere Flamenco Dance group, filmed at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. The finished piece currently runs on Encantada TV Channel 27.
Film Apprenticeship Program, Inc.
Quote Unquote, Inc. has partnered with the Film Apprenticeship Program, Inc. to provide specialized training to participants going through their program, in skills needed to enter into the film industry. Once trained, FAPI participants are placed with various Film and TV productions throughout the state, and assist in productions as part of their on the job training. National Indian Youth Council
The National Indian Youth Council in Albuquerque has partnered with the NM Department of Labor to assist Native Americans who are seeking employment and need assistance with developing job skills through on the job training. Participants are paid minimum wage and are allowed to work up to 30 hours / week. At the end of 2009, Quote Unquote Inc. entered into a two year contract to assist the NIYC and program participants in providing on the job training and development. Currently Quote Unquote, Inc. has paid interns via this partnership and looks forward to more participants in the future.
